Everybody's favorite = running. Please, don't even TRY to feel sorry for yourselves after what I witnessed at the Games- 7.1 km of hill run!
Run 800 m for time 4 times. Rest as long as you need to between sets.

So, here's a question: to twitter or not to twitter- for the gym, I mean. Here's my dilemma: as a person, I think twitter is ^&(*))! ridiculous. I think it's a temple to narcissism, and part of the downfall of western civilization. Sorry, btw, if any members are on twitter; I'm sure you are the exception to the rule and only "tweet" about important things like the Supreme Court confirmation hearings or follow the goings-on in Iran. On the other hand, it seems that many people follow other people's "tweets," and no, I'm not trying to be profane. In trying to figure out where Kim was in the standings on Saturday night, I broke down and registered for twitter- because it was the only way. This makes me think this would be a good vehicle to let people know about goings-on at the gym... I promise not to regale you with tales of what I've eaten for breakfast or what my plans are for a random Sunday; I'd stick to events, scheduling stuff, and cool things- like when someone gets a pullup, etc. What do you guys think? Would you follow it? To tweet? Or not to tweet? I seriously want to know. And don't try to tweet me the answer!

Don't forget that there is no 7 pm WOD in Tustin this Thursday, and no 10 am WOD at Cherry this Saturday. There are 5 slots left for the KB seminar in Long Beach, thanks to a last minute KB borrowing donation from Matt. If you put your name down on the list, but did not pay, you are not considered registered and your slot is up for grabs. Consider yourself warned... :P

I don't tweet nor do I facebook. This is coming from a girl who only started using email in mid 2006 because a friend forced me to do so by gunpoint -in a kind & loving manner, of course. So, tweet away if you wish. Perhaps one day I'll get with the 80's... 90's... or whatever the hell this decade is. Gotta run; gonna listen to an album on my record player!! Yes, I really do play vinyl in my home. :-)

Carmen, kudos on being behind the times.

I have to agree with "^&(*))! ridiculous". Twitter seems to be just another time user-upper. People (or at least I) seem to be much less productive when attention is constantly divided by many different inputs. I admit it kind of made sense for Crossfit Games to use it for "play-by-plays", but in general the format of their games information was frustrating (ex: having to scroll through a bunch of twitter posts to find the WOD was kind of ridiculous).

Anyhoo, I really only see it being valuable for communicating urgent, time-sensitive information (and even then, I don't know if I'll ever be a Twitter fan). Otherwise it doesn't seem to have much of an advantage over the current blog format.

Of course, that's just my bias. If others are crazy about Twitter, go for it.

I agree with your narcissistic comments. Don't we have enough of a problem keeping our ego in check. I mean seriously who cares what you do during the day? If you really knew how much other people think about you, you wouldn't worry about it. I'd also have to agree with Matt's comments that the blog is enough. If you have to tweet to find information it is just because you haven't invested in an iphone with a good browser ;-). Besides how many places do we have to check during the day already; email (more than one), phone (more than one), blog, facebook etcetera. I'm sure there are niches twitter works best but I can get there from here with or without it. I resist bowing down at the temple of my self centered universe and vote no to twitter.

Just the other day I was thinking to myself, "If only there was a way all the attention whores of the world could have acces to some kind of electronic media which allowed them to spew their narcissistic verbal diarrhea to the masses." Thank you Twitter!

Now I can ignore these people on several different levels.

LOL you guys are a freaking riot. That said, egg whites and nitrate-free turkey sausage. Sitting here wondering what my wpm is when typing- it used to be 70 at one point. They're doing noisy construction outside my window. And I keep forgetting to stick my netflix dvd in the mail.

PS- am I getting the hang of it? ;)

Jenn, I think that was more than 144 characters... sorry.

In other news, Sotomayor was asked questions about Perry Mason episodes and her loyalty to the New York Yankess during her confirmation hearings... seriously, does NPR really need to cover these hearings to that degree? Is there nothing else important going on in the world?

I don't know, maybe you should check E! News.

Check this out, according to UrbanDictionary.com the meaning of Tweeter is “A person who uses Twitter to update countless people on the stupid things they are doing at any given time.”

Side note: 89's, 90's, 91's and 92's are all done.

thisoneguy said...

anyone else surprised that Moose had nothing to add to this conversation? =)

Is it because he loves twitter and didn't want to make fun of it or is he just super busy? I miss him so!!

Hey you guys! What's up?

In order to preserve the cult vibe of crossfit, I would recommend not Tweeting.

I don't know anything about it, but after reading the multiple sample tweets on this blog I found myself irritated that my precious time was just wasted on useless comments.

Do we really want to attract Tweeters? (and I say that in a completely nonjudgmental tone)
