March 30, 2009

Four rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
50 Squats
Make sure as you get tired (inevitable) you don't slack off by bringing your chest to your thighs during your squats instead of actually dropping your hips & butt down and back.
Does everybody know Crossfit is coming back to Tustin??? Beginning April 6, one week from today, we'll have classes at 6 and 7 pm. Get ready Tustonians... you asked for it!

This WOD sounds like something only Dr. Jenn's evil twin would prescribe right after a San Diego Mud Run the day before! Ouch!

1st: THANK YOU THANK YOU KIMMIE OF THE KIM BALL CANNONBALLERS for all of your herculean efforts to coordinate the Mud Run crew. You inspire with your example, your caring and your sparkling personality ("I loves me some Kimmie!").

2d: THANKS TO ALL YOU MUDRUNNERS!!!! Teams:
Cannonball (10k)-Kim, Jason, Tom, Sarah;
Surf Chocolate (10k)-Angela, Angie, Luis, Me;
Mud360 (5K) - Jay, Jeff (Jay's cool brother), Steven, Lizen.

"Surf Chocolate" was formerly "Chocolate Surfers," but that sounded kinda like the "Hershey Highwaymen," so we improvised on the name ... and we wore capes!

We started off the day with a little cowbell (because you can always use more cowbell) and Luis's homemade cranberry walnut bars (yum), then caravanned down to do some dirt.

Mud360 took off like a flash at noon, coming back covered with brown and black about 15 minutes before Cannonballers and Surf Chocolate left the gate at 1:00. They looked happy and filthy, so we were all thinking "this is gonna be easy!"

I'm not gonna lie: that 10k was painful! - doable and fun, but painful. There's a total 30 mud pits per circuit, so the 10k teams did 60 MUD PITS, about 18 total hay-bale obstacles, the lifesized pipe crawl, the deathsized 35°, 600m. hill up (10k - twice), and the dusty 45° run down. I think Luis got to the finish in about 1:20, followed by everyone else, then, at 2:08, some antlered beast wearing a surf chocolate cape (though some say he was just keeping a watchful eye on the cuties on teams 87, 105, and 75 running in front of him - such a gentleman!). Cannonballers and Surf Chocolate crossed the finish line together and promptly ... chilled the heck out! That was tough!

Cold showers, muddy undies and a celebration at El Torito ensued.

Would I do it again? Hells yeah! (Oops: what was the WOD again?)

Thanks Kim!! Love you too. Had a great time at the Mud Run with my cross fit family! Now I know what a mud bath feels like! Luis, can I get that recipe from you--very tasty!
