"Nate"
Complete as many rounds in twenty minutes as you can of:
2 Muscle-ups
4 Handstand Push-ups
8 2-Pood Kettlebell swings
So- remember the mods. 1 muscle up = 3 pullups/3 dips; Handstand pushup can be elevated pushup or heavy shoulder press.
We're a little more than half-way through the Zone Challenge?- how is everyone doing?? I had to supplement my diet with some fruit (doc's orders) as my sugar was a bit low and I lost a few lbs- not an easy feat when one is between 8-9 months pregnant and basically as active as your average garden slug! So... all you people who have been "strict zoning" for several months... caught ya! The Zone works. Seriously. I plan to be a complete case study after I have my daughter-- and then no one will have any more excuses! :)
Hmm. Not exactly sure what's going on in this photo...

Nicole (my better half) made a fantastic meal for dinner tonight, and it was easy to Zone with, so thought I'd share:

- Roasted Turkey Breast (free range, was on sale at Whole Foods). Simply seasoned with butter, salt & pepper (5 oz = 5 blocks)
-Mashed cauliflower w/ sauteed spinach (steam cauliflower thoroughly. Drain, then add cooked spinach with just a touch of butter and milk. Beat with a mixer). AWESOME alternative to mashed potatoes! (18 oz ~ 3 blocks)

3 blocks of the cauliflower/spinach was already a lot of food, so I added 2 blocks of dried cranberries to round out my 5 block meal. Bummer that dried cranberries always have added sugar, but man was it tasty! Also, olive oil would be a decent substitute for some/all of the butter, but I personally don't shy away from butter if it is decent quality (organic).

cheers,
.matt.

Hey Dr. J,

Out of curiosity, is it recommended that you have extra fat intake for the little one's brain development? Has Dr. Sears made any particular Zone recommendations/adjustments for pregnancy?

Actually Matt- what's funny is that Dr. Sears' recommendation for pregnant women (that I could find) was 13 blocks across the board. That seems good to me, but I really am a chronic undereater (believe it or not)-- food = really not so interesting to me. The only thing along the brain development lines that I've read is related to increased DHA intake- and that was from my doc, not the Zone...

"Thanks" Jenn for two 20min AMRAPs in a row. I hate AMRAPs... but I know they're good for me =)

Kind of surprised Sears hasn't done a book/plan specifically tailored to pregnancy. Who knows, maybe he's working on one.

(for my own future reference: "Nate" - modified the muscle-ups with a slight jump, 3 swings short of 14rd)
Anybody else search through old blog comments to find your previous weights/times? Good fun...

Alright, that's more than enough from me on this post... I'll shut up now.
