We knew she was good, but... (and 4/20/09)

...Damn!!! Kim will be representing the Socal Region at the Crossfit Games 2009!!! She came in 4th place, which was OUTstanding! Kim really exemplified mental fortitude, athleticism, and an unbelievable inner reserve! To be honest with you guys, I didn't have any expectations. I mean, we all know she is incredible, but it's difficult to know what other animals might be out there lurking in the wilderness. So my main message was "Find your rhythm, and do the best YOU can." Well, Kim's best was pretty darn great!!
Mustafa finished today's WOD in 20:52 (fantastic), and Matt finished 3rd in his heat. In honor of our 360 competitors, you'll all be doing the qualifier WOD's this week.
For time:
800 m run
Then, 6 rounds of:
20 box jumps (Qual specs = step-ups are acceptable)
10 wall balls
Finally, 800 m run.
Note that they did a 2000 m row followed by the 6 rounds. However, since we have one rower, I think running would be a lot easier to execute. However, if you would prefer to do the row instead, go for it! This WOD is all about endurance; don't burn yourself out at the beginning!

Great job Kim!
We're all very proud of you and grateful that you are with us!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO KIM!!!! For someone so incredibly focused, strong, and supportive, it is no wonder that she did so well, earning every bit of it. ROCK ON KIMMIE!!!! And when I calculate the times for the men, I strongly believe that Matt was headed for the top 10 if his second and third heats had come first. YOU ROCKED IT MATT!!! But the field of contenders should consider themselves extremely lucky that Jason Alexander was inadvertently sidelined. We've all seen his ability, and we've come to know his depth of knowledge in training. Next year: look out! THANKS FOR ALL OF THE COACHING AND SUPPORT BROTHER!!! Thanks for all the spectators, and Julie and Dr. Jenn, who were wonderful coaches and support people too. YOU GALS ROCK!!!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

I just want to say CONGRATS to kim, moose and matt. They did a amazing job and i'm glad to call them friends, and work out buddies.
I could not imange doing those work outs in the HEAT like that. So big ups to all of them. Saturday was 88 out there and sunday was a scorching 95!!! Doing those work out's in those conditions is insaine. But they hung tough and finish!! Well Done

YEAH KIM!!! Solid, absolutely solid. Your simple consistency throughout the workouts was awesome (& probably why you "slipped under the radar", at least in the cameraman's case)... Now the real work begins =)

Moose, great work. Was fun(?) battling through the weekend together. Before we know it, chest to bar pulls will be our best friend.

Jenn, Jason, and Julie: you guys were fantastic this weekend! Thanks for all of your tips, medical care, and support (and for convincing me to do something crazy like this back when I'd been x-fitting for ~1 month!) Jason, excited for you to kick some a** at the team competition in Aromas.

And a big, BIG thanks to everyone else who paid good $, got a sunburn, and sweated buckets just to watch us beat ourselves up a bit... the little bit of fun I had DURING the workouts was mostly due to hearing y'all cheer me on =)

Jenn, thought you'd appreciate this: http://picasaweb.google.com/sbcoast/SoCalCrossFitQualifiers?authkey=Gv1sRgCOmEuv227ZiTSQ&feat=email#5326233178229805282
Found a link to the pics on the main Games site.

Oh, and I'm good on situps and squats, but just realized I haven't done pushups for a few days. I'll make up for that tomorrow.

so I just googled "hyperlink html" to figure out how to link to the picture since the address wouldn't fit in my comment above... this should work: "EMBRACE THE SUCK!"

Thanks so much, everyone!! For your support (at the event and from afar), your screams, and your words of wisdom (especially our weekend special forces instructor team of the three J's... yeeeeeeah!).

It was wonderful to have you out there 'embracing the suck' with me, Matt and Moose... I was so motivated by your fighting spirits in such an uncomfortable temperature. Way to kill it!

Well - I am THRILLED to be able to represent 360 in July. And I'm even more thrilled to take a couple days off! And chill in an air conditioned room, maybe? :)

Mustaffa and Matt you Rock! Kim you Boulder!

Most people don't realize this but from the very start Kim shredded her hand on the pull ups. She was dripping blood from the very start but it never phased her. She is a true competitor and I'm proud she represents. I'm sorry I couldn't be there Sunday to watch the rest.

Also the first WOD had Matt almost lifting his body weight over his head with every rep! They don't scale for us lighter guys (not in the loafers, not that there is anything wrong with that). It was truely impressive to see him fight through. The secret was awesome form!

6-6-6 done.

I wanted to cry every time I saw you guys go through the workout. SO much courage and heart in every single WOD!

John and Matt-you guys were AWESOME! I was miserable in the heat just watching all of you guys, I can't imagine what it was like working out like that!

And of course-KIM, YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I love how she's just this cute, cheerleader-looking gal and comes in to just CRUSH everyone else. Love it!

As for my 5050's, I got your text Carmen-haven't done them yet. I need to make up the 3's, 4's, 5's and then do my 6's. This isn't going well so far...
