December 1, 2008
Happy December! Let's start the month off right with some lifting.
Deadlift 3-3-3-3-3
Hold onto your hats, kids- we're all about to get a lot busier. But don't neglect your fitness during this crazy month, especially since it will be filled with holiday parties, cookies, decadent meals, wine, etc. Keep those priorities straight!
Our illustrious pushup club has finished. We won't be starting our next 5050 club til January, and I'm taking suggestions about what to do. It'll have to be something that you can do at home. Do I hear burpees? What's that? Inverted burpees? My, you guys are motivated!

sit ups sounds fun! :)
or do 100 sit ups on day one and one pushup . 99 situps on day two with 2 pushups..etc.
I still havent heard about the winner of the picture contest and what they win..
the t-shirts are pretty cool! good job
I think some kind of sit-up routine would be great after the holidays. Get rid of the muffin tops. I like Joey's idea.
Great job, everyone's getting stronger!

Get ready for some fun on Wednesday, HAHAHA!!!
Situps are waaay too easy, you guys. And, sorry to say, they do nothing for getting rid of belly fat and they're not the greatest abdominal strengthening exercise either.
What about squat jumps?
I'm a little scared about Wednesday... seems like Jason's workout is coming... eek!!
Kim's way more of an expert on the issue than I, but I agree that situps are not the best abdominal exercise. I like vertical leg thrusts in particular, because they work the oft-missed lower abdominals (which situps do nothing for). Crunches are possibly better than situps, but it depends on how you do them (just raising the upper torso works upper abs; raising the buttocks and lower torso gets those lower abs).
In this regard, getting six-pack abs (and maintaining them) is neither a mystery nor an impossibility: consistent lower ab work is the key (high reps, limited sets - like 30x3). Plus, abs are muscles that you can work nearly every day (unlike other muscles that require more of a rest period before results become apparent). If there's "pudge" in the way, well hey, that's a weight loss issue (no sweat for you XFitters ... or "a lotta sweat," depending).
But who asked me? I think I owe some deadlifts! (notice how I skillfully try to steer the focus away from the "Jason" workout ... Doh!
