August 30 WOD Results + Pushups: Day 17

Thank you to everyone who came to Tustin for today's workout. The WOD was Group Fran, aka Massive Butt Kicking. Participants were broken into teams. Each team completed 3 400 m runs, 300 Thrusters, and 150 pullups. Team 2 (Aaron, Christian, Eric, Joey, and Roger) was the winning team with a time of 33:02, and they were happy to be waited on by teams 1, 3, and 4. Team 4 (John, Luis, Vic, Kevin, Ernie, and Jason) came in second with a time of 33:12, while Team 3 (Andy, Shawn, Jim, Kevin, and Darnell) was third. Team 1, which was clearly the best looking team, consisted of Deanna, Lara, Sara, Angie, Mary Lou, and Margo, came in fourth. Nice job everybody!
Don't forget to do your 17 pushups tomorrow. And clear your calendars for September 27, our next big workout!

Team 4 rocked! We had "one-hand-pullups" Luis on our team and we busted out some time! I'm sure the "first place" team cheated: hey, we had Jason "the rock star," Vic "the veritable maniac," Kevin "kick ass," Ernie "the invincible," and the Muuuuuuooose knockin' that stuff out! But team 2 beat us by 10 seconds. Beers on us!!!!!

I have until midnight to get my 17 in, right. As of 9:12am, I can't straighten my right arm. I think it was the pull-ups or maybe the thrusters...

So today (Sunday) is the Nike+ Human Race 10k. You can run with a group or run on your own, either way it is the largest race ever run with people all over the WORLD running today.
Any money pledged goes toward three charities: The Lance Armstrong Foundation, which raises awareness about cancer; WWF, which is dedicated toward helping animals and nature; and ninemillion.org, which helps child refugees have a better life.
So, being the genius that I am, I decided a few days ago that I was going to run it by myself. Had I been training for it, you ask? No. Have I run more than half a mile straight in the past year? No. Have I run 6.2 miles in the last two years? No. Can I feel my legs? No. Will I be able to feel them tomorrow? Ohhh yes.

Anyway, I managed to get it done in 54:34--no walking, no stopping--and I'm pretty damn happy with that being that I haven't run for the sake of running in more than a year. Perhpas it's CrossFit... :)

Oh, and ya, 17 pushups done.

Here's to Team 1, the "best looking team". Even though we came in last we had fun and worked together--darn those pull ups!! Thanks Jessica for pushing us along. Oh, and 17 done for the Forney family.

Ow! My rectus femoris and vastus medialis sure are tight today. (Somehow, that doesn't seem like it's going to translate well.)

(Hmmm ... word verification says "bring cookies next time." Something fishy here ...

17 push-ups done.

The post-workout Guinness inspired me to think up crossfit beer pong. The ping pong ball has been replaced with a medicine ball and the red cups with buckets. If you miss three in a row, you run a 400m. Anyone in?

Excellent idea Jim. Perhaps that will be September's workout. Hopefully you will live to see it, as I'm sure others are plotting your untimely demise as I write this...good thing you train in Krav.

17 completed before heading up to LA to run the human race. Can't say that saturday's workout helped with running 6.2 miles :)
